Use Handyman
How We Work
A controlled project process built around planning, protection, and written approvals. Expect an itemized quote, text-first coordination, and a room-by-room workflow. If the scope changes on site, it is priced and approved before work continues.
If several items are in the same rooms, they can be grouped into one planned visit to reduce repeat access.
What You Can Expect
- Request: Send an estimate request with 2-4 photos and basic measurements.
- Scope: The work is defined as a written scope, so you know what is included before scheduling.
- Pricing: Itemized lines for labor, materials, and taxes. Markup and overhead are listed as their own lines.
- Scheduling: Dates, access details, and an arrival window are confirmed in writing.
- On-site: Protection comes first, work runs by planned areas, and the site is reset at day-end.
- Completion: Work is reviewed together, then the remaining balance is paid.
- Cost lines: Labor • Materials • Markup • Overhead • Taxes • Total
Most projects are owner-led. When additional support is scheduled, it is arranged in advance under the same process and on-site standard. You will know who is arriving before the visit.
1) Share project details
- Submit the request form with one project per request.
- Attach 2-4 photos, basic measurements, and what you want changed.
- More detail supports a tighter quote without a site visit.
2) Quote and approval
- Your quote is itemized for labor, materials, and taxes.
- Materials are usually sourced and purchased by Use Handyman for fit and consistency.
- Once approved and signed, a deposit is collected to secure materials and the scheduled date.
3) Schedule and prep
- Dates, duration, and access details are confirmed in writing.
- Coordination stays by text or email for fast decisions and a written record.
- If site conditions differ, pricing and scope are confirmed before work continues.
4) On-site work
- Floors, furniture, and surfaces are protected before work begins.
- Work is completed by area in a staged order to keep the home usable.
- Before payment, completed items are checked against the written scope.
Communication, timing, and additions
- Response window: Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm.
- On-site days: Messages are returned at mid-day or after the workday.
- Access planning: Arrival windows and entry details are confirmed before the visit.
- Priority scheduling: Limited availability outside normal hours may be offered, with pricing confirmed in advance.
- Written record: Key decisions stay in text or email so scope and timing stay aligned.
- Additions: Work not listed on the quote is priced and approved in writing before it is started.
